Janja Garnbret, Routesetting for the Olympics, and the North Face Climb Festival

Behind the Wall Logo

Welcome to Behind The Wall, a weekly newsletter published every Saturday.

Each week, I highlight the favourite things I’ve watched, read and listened to from the world of indoor and competition climbing. I also track where you can buy competition tickets during the World Cup season.

The Olympics is in full flow, and climbing media is gearing up for when Sport Climbing starts on Monday, August 5th, with the male semi-final Boulder phase and female Speed qualification and elimination rounds. We got quite a few routesetting interviews with UKClimbing, sending out questions to the head routesetters for Lead and Boulder. Climbing Magazine talked with the Boulder Headsetter Garret Gregor about the difficulty of the boulder problems in Paris. We also had a dump of content from the North Face Climb Festival deep water solo event in London and more Olympian interviews.

I know there is lots of great content that I don’t know about. Let me know at behindthewall@inside-climbing.com, and I’ll give you a shout-out if I feature it.

Please subscribe if you’d like this newsletter delivered to your inbox each week.
